Shopify Dropshipping: AliExpress Product Research HACKS (Find Winning Products 2019)

– All right guys, my name is Torin, and welcome to the complete
Shopify dropshipping tutorial. I’ve decided to put together
a little slide deck for us to follow along. Now we’re gonna go through everything from product research, to
store design, to Facebook ads, and even customer service. This is almost gonna be
like a complete free course from the beginning to the end. I hope you guys find a lot of value in it and make sure to subscribe to my channel, as well as like this video. If you put on the post
notifications, you’ll get notified when the next video of
this series comes out. So let’s jump right into it. So from the video title,
as you guys can see, we’re gonna dive into how
to do product research. So this is all for Shopify dropshipping, specifically with AliExpress. AliExpress is the easiest
way for you to get into this and start testing products,
as well as make it easy for you guys to fulfill these products before you get to any kind of scale. And so we’ll be using the app Oberlo with AliExpress in our Shopify, but we’ll get to that when
I get into the store design. First, let’s start with product research. So a few general themes
of winning products that we’re searching for,
before we even go to AliExpress, is that we’re looking for a
product that solves a problem, people haven’t seen it before, kinda has a wow factor. Another thing to take into account is that we want this product to
be proven to sell already. We don’t wanna fight an uphill
battle by trying to start from the very beginning. We can analyze data to see what products
are currently selling, and how we can model
our stores after that. All right, let’s get
into the niche research. So the first thing I put in here is the AliExpress Dropshipping Center. So let’s go do that right now. So I just have it already
pulled up here, AliExpress. So you’re gonna need to
have an account in order to get to the Dropshipping Center. So I already do. I’m gonna sign in. It doesn’t take much to
signup for an account. Once you’re signed in to the account, we wanna go over to your profile here, and down to My AliExpress. Once you get to here, you can see in the top right, up here we have Dropshipping Center. This is where we wanna click. Unless you’ve already picked out a niche, here you can explore different niches and see what kind of
products are selling well. So for instance, I guess
we’re gonna end up building a store for you guys anyway. So let’s just start by
going into something I might be familiar with. Let’s go into Sports and Entertainment. So you click on that inside here. It shows us at the bottom
how many orders they have. So orders are always relative, which doesn’t always mean everything, but it does show that it
has been proven to sell. So we’re also looking for that wow factor, something we haven’t been
able to see in other stores. And I’m just gonna go
through different pages, searching up all these products. This is the step you do not wanna rush it. This is the base for
all of your campaigns, and so you’re not wanting to
rush the product research. So you’re gonna just go
through, sorta looking at these products, see if
anything catches your eye. In Sports and Entertainment,
I’m going to go into Camping and Hiking. All right, so once we’re
in here, I can already see a bunch of gadgets I
personally wouldn’t know where I could find those,
which is a good, good sign. This thing intrigues me here. So we’re gonna pull this open. Take a look at the price. Okay, so it goes on top of a ca– Okay, so it goes on
top of a propane bottle so you can cook things on top. Cool. So what we’re gonna do is we’re gonna pull and copy the URL, and we’re gonna go back to this Dropshipping Center. We’re gonna go into Product Analysis. Here, we’re gonna paste the URL, and it’s gonna show us
the product info here. So I’m not a big fan of having
the Logistics Reliability anything less than Excellent, especially when you start to scale. This is gonna be a major problem for you, because you’re gonna have tons
of customer service issues. So, this isn’t selling very well. I mean, there could be
other people providing this, but eight, 20 a day,
could be all personal. So go back and look at another item. All right guys, I found a product
that is selling very well. Over a hundred a day. Looks like we dropped
but then we’re back up, the Logistics Reliability is excellent, meaning these are going to be
delivered as they should be. So they’re 97 cents US, and
they’re this giant multi-tool. So this is a product we’re
looking to maybe markup to about 9.99. It gives you a great margin. And you’re able to provide a lot of value, with all the different types
of tools this thing offers. All right, so the next thing I have on here is Google Trends. Although this multi-tool
key might not be somethings people are searching for, because it’s something you
don’t necessarily know about until you see. Google Trends is a great place to search for trending
products, trending niches, trending pop-culture, and you can see what kinda search volume and where the search volume is from. So let’s type it in. Go to Google Trends here. And I’ll show you an example. So let’s type in Shopify, for example, which I know has gotten
completely blown out in the last 12 months. It’s a very high search volume. Let’s look in the past five years here, ’cause I know in the last year,
we’ve definitely increased. Yeah, so for instance, Shopify
is a growing search term, as you guys can see. Even the stock on the
market is doing unreal. But over the past five years,
we continue to increase. We also have a Web Search
for just how many people are searching for Shopify, as well as we can do Image Search, even a YouTube Search. So we’ll do a YouTube Search. Excuse me. And we can see that, if it pops up here, there has been considerable
amount of YouTube search, as you guys are probably doing right now, to find out more about Shopify. So we go down, we can
see what kind of states. We’re only looking at the
United States right now, but we can see where in the United States the most search volume is coming from, as well as other related
queries about the topic. So dropshipping is very
big, as you guys can see, Shopify with Instagram,
Facebook ads, and so this would give you other related
search terms to look for as you’re searching. Next, is Facebook and Instagram. So I’m gonna take our multi key here, and I’m just gonna copy
eight in one multi key. I’m gonna hop over to Facebook, and I’m just gonna ty– and I’m just gonna drop that in. All right, so we do see that people are already selling this item. Four views, 94 views. Let’s look in Videos. So I just did a quick Facebook search, and although I found a
video that’s quite old, it’s very similar to the key
that we were trying to sell. So for instance, this is– (upbeat music) So for instance, this
is a video that’s only about 40 seconds long, which
we’ll go into a second. But this is exactly how
we’re gonna model the ad for your Facebook campaigns. And a huge tip to help you guys out to start finding these products, is when you’re scrolling
through Facebook or Instagram, anytime you see a dropshipping product, or you’re pretty sure that
it’s a dropshipping product, hit that shop now. Go to their website. See what their website looks like. Is it cluttery? Is it clean? Does it look like it’s easy to purchase? Even add to cart, and go through that checkout process, without purchasing. That tells Facebook
you’re an engaged shopper, and they’ll start showing
you more of those items, more and more of those items. Now my Facebook page is
basically all dropship items, and so I can see what’s selling,
how many views they have. And some of the products you
see, have like a million, two million views, in
a matter of one week. You know that they’re
not paying to push that to a million people
unless it’s selling well. So at the bottom here,
I have, as a sweet spot, the product should be about,
under $10, which we do have. Next, you’re gonna wanna
look at competition. So, first thing I have on here, is you’re gonna Google
that product plus Shopify. So what, once again, we’re
gonna go multi tool key, copy that, we’re gonna paste it, and we’re gonna plus Shopify. And these are gonna show us
all of the stores that carry that product currently. So let’s look at one. So this is a pretty clean website. As you can tell, it’s very well done. Yeah, it is very well done. So this is a website you’re
gonna wanna model after if you’re doing something very similar. So I’m not a huge fan of all
these payment processor icons, it’s mixed code on the fence, but this is a very clean website. As you can see, it’s a
different type of key, but it’s a multi-tool key. So a very similar idea here. Very clean. Same coloring. It’s doing very well. Products you might also like, other tools. They still fit well. And there’s no reviews,
which is kind of a big deal, when you’re trying to sell a product, so I wonder how well this is, lightning fast delivery,
worldwide shipping. Yeah, very clean website. That’s something definitely
you guys have to do. Typing into, and if I’m not mistaken, this could be a Shopify website. Another huge tip for you guys, is if you’re ever finding a Shopify store, and you wanna know what
the best selling product of that well-done store is, just go to Google, type in
Shopify best seller code. Basically comes out with
this little sort-by function. So let me get in, let
me just grab it here. It’s a sort-by function, where unless they have coded it otherwise, you’re able to tell what
products are selling best on that website. So I’m gonna copy that. You’re gonna wanna put
this little piece of code at the end of that website URL. You type that, you enter that
in, and it’s gonna pull up the best selling products of that website. So we know that this
18-in-1 Snowflake Multi-Tool is their best selling product. So that’s another website we just found. So, although we’re on
the multi-tool business, I went back to AliExpress, and I typed in snowflake multi-tool, because of how many times
I’m seeing this come up. I’m gonna sort by orders. So in Orders, I see that this
one has over two thousand, which is five star rating as well. So this is doing really well. All right, so, we Googled that product, basically found out what
is working, what isn’t. We found that whether
it’s the key multi-tool or the snowflake multi-tool,
both go on your key-chain. So, we’re onto something here. Next thing I have is this bit.ly hack. Any time you’re on Facebook, let’s go back. Any time you’re on Facebook, and you see a Shopify dropshipping ad, or you feel it is an ad, and
they have a bit.ly link in it, what you’re gonna wanna
do is a little hack to see how many times that’s
actually been selling. So for instance, I just
typed in buy yours now. Let’s see if we have any
with any bit.ly links in it. Okay guys, so here’s the bit.ly hack. So I found, basically a dropshipping ad where it has a bit.ly link in it, bit-lie whatever, we’re
gonna copy that link, and we’re gonna go up
to the URL and paste it. And you’re gonna put a
plus sign at the end, and enter that. This is basically gonna
show us how many times that link has been clicked. (sneezes) So this one isn’t working
very well as of lately. You can see the amount of clicks. But basically, you’re gonna
wanna see a nice hockey stick, that it’s upwards trending, and
it’s getting a lot of clicks to the website. We already went over how
to look at all the stores that are selling it, and try to model those clean stores, as well as the top selling product hack that we went through. So it’s a sort-by, sort-by function. All right, the last thing I wanna go over before we pick the product is a few questions to ask yourself before you start building the theme. Because we’re basically
about to build a whole store around one product. And unless we have the right
product, we could be wasting a ton of time. So, is this product branded,
is what I always like to ask myself first. It’s hard to make a one-product store when the product itself is branded. It looks off-brand to
a lot of our customers by having your logo as well as a different
logo on the product. It just doesn’t match. It doesn’t work. And it looks sketchy. So, first thing you wanna do is make sure that there’s no logos or any
kind of branding on the product you’re about to sell. So this one looks fine. There’s nothing on there. We can make a complete store for ourself. The second question is
can I make the product look like a one-product store? So following off the first point, we wanna be able to match the colors, match the, basically feel of the product, and relate it to our demographic properly. So if it’s not branded,
we feel like we could add some branding to it, add some lifestyle pictures, which you also wanna look into, as I’m skipping a couple points. But you’re gonna wanna go down
and find lifestyle pictures of people using the product,
but without the brand in it. So I already see we could
basically nab that video there, this picture’s great, no pictures down there, but these pictures are great as well. AliExpress will give you
a bunch, but I’m liking how there’s no branding surrounding it. So next you wanna look
at the cost of shipping, because that’s gonna
factor into your price. Although typically everyone likes to say let’s go with E-packet, depending on where you’re
planning to ship to or where your demographic works well, you wanna find the shipping cost of it, and what kind of shipping
companies sell it. So you’re just gonna basically
go back to the product. You’re gonna type in wherever
you’re planning to ship to and what kind of shipping rates they have. So E-packet is on here, but it’s 2.20, so we’re gonna have to
factor that into the price. So, for instance, we have 2.86
for the price of the product, and E-packet is 2.20. So we’re looking at about $5 US for the cost of this, which
is a good markup for us, if we’re trying to sell
it for about 19.99, which we saw on those other sites. So, are all the pictures clean and usable? Yes. And is there enough data to build a successful product page? Yes, we basically found 20 other
stores selling this product that we can model after, keep it clean, we can use all those other
pictures, and maybe those GIFs. If you did get value out of this video, please like it, subscribe to my channel, because the next few videos
should be coming out shortly. Thanks guys, talk to you later.
