How To Make Money By Reducing Plastic Waste

How To Make Money By Reducing Plastic Waste

Plastic bag. Plastic water bottle. Plastic box of spinach. So I collected plastic
for the past 36 hours. Beer pong in the plastic bag. Vitamin container. I ate out once. I wear contacts, but that means
11, 12, 13, 14, 15 years, 15 pieces here. I’m not proud of it. So that’s why today we’re going to
talk about ways that you can make money while reducing plastic waste. Hey, I’m Neha. I’m an officially certified
accountant and your unofficial money master, and this is New Money
where each week I take a look at interesting ways people are making
money and how you can make some of this new money. Oh my gosh. Okay, well you’re wrong. Bio-do-da-bo-gradable. Each year 8 million tons of plastic
waste ends up in the ocean, and there’s a bunch of people out there
who are trying to prevent that from happening and also making
money while doing it. Which begs the question, is it
possible to make money while making the world a better place? The answer is yes, yes,
yes, it’s possible. Okay, so what are people selling? We have here bees wax paper. Essentially. There is bamboo cutlery. It’s actually very
aesthetically pleasing as well. There is this environmentally
friendly toothpaste. Which is actually refillable, so
you can just bring it back and get more. Ooh, there is a rubber Q-tip. Oh, this a foldable reusable straw. OK this is like a transformer. But then there’s other things. There’s refillable shampoo bottles,
bio-degradable litter, metal raisers, toys, meats out of
plastic that’s found on a beach. There’s so many great things that
help you get rid of plastic waste. So let’s talk about
this straw for a second. It was made by this
woman named Emma Cohen. But first pop quiz. Okay. Andy, which of the following places
has banned or is in the process of banning plastic straws? So we have Vancouver, Seattle,
New York, and Washington, D.C. Seattle and Vancouver. Okay, well, you’re wrong. It’s all of the above. All of those places are in the
process of banning or have already banned the use of plastic
straws, which is amazing. So Emma’s company, which is
appropriately called Final Straw, shared their idea on Kickstarter
and got $1.8 million dollars and 38,000 backers. Amazing, right? She took this great idea and
then turned it into a lucrative business. Now my question is, how do you take
such a cause focus business and make money with it while
still keeping it fun? So I asked Emma. Roll the tape. I love memes. When we first started working on
this project, I would stay up so late making silly memes, and
it’s just such a great way to communicate that, that people
really resonate with, instead of wagging your finger and
saying, “no, don’t do that. That’s bad.” We just put out memes that make
people laugh and people connect with and then will result
in behavior change. Memes. Of course, of course memes, right? It’s just such a nice way for her
to keep things light while also reminding people that, you know,
saving the planet is kind of important and you know, do it. Who doesn’t want to be paid and
help save the planet at the same time. I want that job. And the world obviously has a
plastic waste problem, right? So big plastic waste problem equals
big money making opportunity for all of you guys. You just think about it. The global recycling industry
is a $200 billion industry. That’s huge. By 2050 it’s projected that there’s
going to be more plastic waste in the ocean than fish. And protecting fish is exactly
what inspired Dick Moby, which is a company that creates sunglasses
from recycled and oil free materials. Before we learn more about them
though, I’m going to make you watch this video off their website
and you can thank me later. There’s too much junk. There’s too much waste. We need good ideas
and a little taste. We can make great things
in plastic or metal. But now their recycled
and biodegradable. I think you meant
Bio-do-be-do-be-gradable. Yeah So first of all, you’re welcome. And second of all, I actually
have the sunglasses here. They are the Seattle
model in yellow Havana. These are so cool. Okay. Hold on a second. Saving the planet one pair
of sunglasses at a time. So the case is made
from recycled leather. Um, and this is made from a
recycled PET bottle, which is basically any plastic bottle. And these bad boys. Are made from biodegradable, or
sorry Bio-do-be-do-be-gradable, whatever the song
thing was, acetate. So Dick Moby isn’t the only company
that is re-purposing, recycled and wasteful plastic materials. Actually, more and more we’re
finding sustainable products, like these ones are selling much more
frequently than their more wasteful cousins. So all this talk
about plastic waste. How did we even get
here in the first place? How did plastic become
such a huge industry? Well. Let me tell you a story. Lights! Well, the year was 1863 and a guy
named John Wesley Hyatt read an ad in an old timey newspaper. It was placed by a New York
firm that wanted to create an alternative to ivory, and they
were offering a $10,000 reward. That was a lot of money back then. And enough to motivate
John to invent plastic. And as winter during the
spring, summer to fall. Eventually it was the 1960s. It’s funny how time travel works. The economy was booming and this
incredible new substance, plastic., was hailed as a miracle material. It’s strong, lightweight, easily
shaped, and most importantly, very cheap. But the same properties that made
it attractive caused it to be destructive to the
environment that is. But despite that the plastic
industry got bigger and bigger. Which brings us to today where
we have 8 million tons of plastic being dumped into the
ocean every single year. And according to my calculations,
that’s the equivalent in weight of 80,000 blue whales. But there is a silver lining. It means there’s a huge opportunity
for eco-friendly businesses to now provide alternative. So on that note, let’s talk
about a plastic free future. So we’re at a point in time where
companies can’t really afford not to be sustainable. I mean, just ask the 68 million
Americans who base their purchasing decisions on personal, social,
and environmental values. Yeah. 68 million people. That’s a lot of people looking
for change and alternatives. And these are the same people who
are willing to spend 20% more on products and environmentally
conscious companies can apply for tax credits and grants, which
can help lower the costs. Because one of the reasons that
people use plastics is because it’s so cheap. But money. How are people making
money off plastic waste? Which leads us
perfectly into tip time. Tip number one. So everyone remembers
the three RS, right? So how does that
apply to a business? Reduce, so sell products like
reusable cups, cutlery, and tote bags. Things that help reduce our
dependence on single use plastic. Reuse. You guessed it. Distribute your product
in reusable containers. So think a milk jar
versus a milk carton. Recycle. So make your product out of
reprocessed material, or at the very least, make it recyclable. Tip number two. Do your research. There are all sorts of resources
online for a network of services that’ll help make your
business truly sustainable. Check out some of the links in
our description below for more information. Tip number three. Communicate. So people aren’t going to know that
your business is environmentally friendly or sustainable if you
don’t let them know, so be very open with their customers. And even invite them to events,
including green initiatives you might be doing. Okay. Everyone, it’s time for my favorite
part of our episode, the unboxing. So our producer, Alex, has sourced
a super cool product for me to look at today. Uh, it’s created by someone who
is having a lot of success in the industry we’ve been talking about,
and apparently it’s gonna brighten my days. So Alex. Yeah. I’m so excited. Let’s unbox this. Ooh, it is a
lampshade, a lampshade. It’s made from shredded plastic. Oh, wow. So cool. It actually is so pretty. You look in that blue box
on the bottom of the shelf. Laundry detergent? So that’s shredded laundry
detergent containers that’s made into this lamp. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. So this is, this is this. Wow. Basically what you’re trying to
say is there’s not just money in reducing plastic waste. There’s actually money in taking
things that have been used and then reusing them and repurposing
them into something else. And it’s actually a huge market. The world only recycled 9% of the
plastics they use, and of that, only 2% is currently being
repurposed into secondary products. Oh my gosh. Thank you, Alex. Okay, so what do you
all think about this? Do you see some opportunity here? After all, it’s been determined
that the plastic waste that ends up in our oceans costs the world
$2.5 trillion in damaged and lost resources. Yep. I said trillion. To be honest, I knew we had a
plastic waste problem, but I never really saw it as a business
opportunity until I started doing research for this episode. It’s kind of a cool challenge to
see how we could reduce our plastic waste. But in a more
entrepreneurial type of way. Make it rain and get
rid of the plastic. That’s all. Thank you so much for tuning
into this episode of New Money. Check back next week where we’ll
have a brand new episode for you, and in the meantime you can comment

Business Blueprint Success Story Russell Johansen

Russell Johansson is my name and I run a company called My Paper Cups what we do is we help large corporates marketing whoever would like to be able to brand their product onto a coffee cup then we help them after that when My Paper Cups started I was doing everything I was handling the sales I was handling the operations I was liaison without production manager I was client management and then organising deliveries I recognised very quickly it was never going to grow while I was the person who’s doing everything we really recognise that our skillset wasn’t where it needed to be in order for these businesses to go where we wanted to put
them and needed them to go to so we were looking for a mentor I’m looking for someone who could really build coaches and guide us as to what are the steps that we need to take we needed them able to say this is what you need to be able to do Here’s the resources here’s the tools for you to be able to put that in place you’d be able to enact that and that’s what really appealed to us with Business Blueprint the systems that they had we want it then we could see anyone who had the experience in building those sort of systems you can and could share that with it and communicate that effectively with us or somebody that you want to be involved with so we’ve now got someone who looks after our entire operation side once we got it all down as well all systems outlined in two weeks she was running our show and it’s fantastic! it was just because what that meant is that it freed up my time to be able to actually focus on building the business as opposed to working in the business month on month we’ve had great growth in both revenue and profit which has been
fantastic but more importantly for me what they’ve been able to do is be able
to transform a business that was just taking over my life and the amount of
hours and work that I had to do and be able to implement the systems that
they’ve been able to guide us and coach us on into something that we now have a
business that we operate and we manage as opposed to it managing our lives
now a lot of it runs without me being involved I love that and that that’s
been a really important part for us just to be able to have someone who has done
that already and being able to show you what you need to put in place in order
to be able to do that that’s that’s invaluable where we are now 12 months
from where we were is it’s phenomenal that the change that is happening in the
business is the change that it has been able to impart on our personal
lives and what we were able to do now that’s been fantastic just been having
access to someone who is that smart and that generous with their time to be able
to bounce ideas off them to be able to get their feedback on things that’s
thing that excellent for us as well

How to Create a Niched Facebook Page for Shopify Store? Social Media Business Tips

How to Create a Niched Facebook Page for Shopify Store? Social Media Business Tips

you hey guys what’s up this is Dallas Gordon
coming from econ cash clean dot-com today guys I am talking about building
out your niched fan page so tonight guys I am going to create a brand new fan
page it’s going to be for my natural healing conquer Reiki niche and
typically I build out and I had them got lots of niche fan pages which help you
to target you know specific people with specific interests hopefully you guys
can hear me because I’m talking pretty low or in this video pretty late at
night so I wanted to show you guys how to go about doing this so the first
thing that I’m going to do is create a page so from your Facebook home tab I
believe that’s where you go when you check very quickly yes from your
Facebook home tab you’re going to go down to pages on the left side you’re
going to click on pages and it is going to open up you know any page with many
of Facebook pages that you follow you want to go up to your top right and
click create page so this is really really really easy to do when you’re
testing different niches so what you want to do is click on I typically put
my pages under community cause or community so my name is going to be
named after my collection here which is the love healing energy
I’m collection so I’m going to actually name my page love healing energy and I’m
going to get started basically guys the first thing that
you’re going to want to do you’re going to want to you know add a profile
picture so you can go ahead and you can upload that right a way so I am probably
going to go into either my jewelry collection and find something or better
yet I may just go into Google and find a profile picture that I can use for this
niche or Pinterest or whatever you want to look for a picture I’m already in
Pinterest so I am probably going to look for a picture here see what I can find
and sorry guys there’s a delay with my computer especially when I am recording so I’m searching for khakhra healing on
Pinterest and I’m gonna wait for some ideas to come up so let’s see oh really
cool there’s actually a copper box that is so cool so let me see if there’s an
image that I can use if not I will go to Google and I will find something that I
can use because the Pinterest pictures are going to be very informational so it
may not be the best place for me to really find an image for my profile
picture so I’m not going to keep scrolling I’m gonna go ahead out to
Google and I’m gonna see what I can find out here I also have an Instagram page
as well under this niche but I’m just going to look here I’m gonna say copper
healing and I’m gonna look up and in an image for this niche that I want to
create my page oh this one’s pretty cool this one’s pretty cool but it has
writing at the bottom so I just want to find something I can
use this one it’s really strange I don’t think so
okay that one’s pretty cool so was that one you really want to find a very you
know attractive image that would catch attention on Facebook
something pretty colorful I mean kind of see what that’s looking like maybe we
gave you something like this let’s try that so we will try to upload this one
guys and see how this one looks let’s see this is the one here No
you see okay in nail the cover photo now I already have a cover photo for my
collection let me see if I can pull it up on my computer save and see if I have
it I’m doing here we go so let me see if this picture will fit this well we’ll
see what happens if not I may have to resize it inside of canvas for facebook
because that’s where I need the banner so there’s our image guys and here’s our
main image it looks perfect okay so this is how we’re going to pretty much create
our page um you can invite your friends if you want to I’m not going to in this
case and in basically Facebook what I like about it is that Facebook basically
walks you through everything that you need to do walks you through writing a
short description I wanna see what I want to say so you want to just
basic line like thing to identify with your audience I may change that later
sometimes they let you create a username for your page love healing energy and
sometimes they don’t right away okay I guess it’s all ready and a lot of
things are already taken so let’s try that one cool cool cool so that’sthat’s
like a URL for your page that way people can find it easily alright alright so it
pretty much walks you through everything that you need to do now from here you’ll
just really need to post some content to your page so what we want to do you can
go ahead and link to your collection um so I’m gonna go ahead and just paste the
link to my collection right into my Facebook page which is going to be
important for when people want to shop and I’m going to add the button ok so
now at this point we just need to schedule some viral contents of the page
so I have a special app that I’m using and I’ll be sure to place the link to
that app if you’re interested in that below in the description but I’ve
already pulled up some viral content using this app I’ve already researched
kind of like what pages have great content you know and that’s getting
great engagement for this niche so I’m slowing down to see you know something
in here something that has gotten some great content here’s something else and this is educating people about car
girls so I would have to link let me link my facebook page one moment
here the eyes this is just a new page Sean Paul’s
gonna have two copies are you all wrong okay
and date pages oh okay go okay so here are all of my pages in here I’m inside
of the app that helps me to find viral content so I’m just going to look for my
page which is right here and this is just taking me here okay so let me go
back to my page where I want to find my viral content so here are some of the
pages that I’ve bookmarked inside of the app that help me find my bowel contents
this one is conker conscious so I’m gonna click on discover and it’s
basically just going to pull up viral content for me you can do photos or
videos so here’s one this is the guide to a balance to conquer I’m gonna go
ahead and post that one this is pretty cool you just select where you want it
okay so love healing energy your guide to a balanced Conqueror and I just
wanted to post now so I’m just going to say Full Sail so literally guys if we go
over to Facebook to our page just on this side and we want to view to see
whether or not the content has been posted yet we can go ahead and refresh
you take a look at how that looks so you don’t want for people to start to
like your page guys and find your viral content that you’re posting to Facebook
and scheduling to Facebook and you’re not home there’s nothing in your page
you definitely don’t want that and as you can see here it’s it’s basically
posted for me so that’s pretty cool and even though people say that hashtags
don’t work on Facebook I typically do me personally I use them and I find that my
pages end up I’m organically kind of going out when people are able to find
my content but basically what happens guys is that when people search for
certain things what happens is that they search for certain keywords they find
your post which has certain keywords and they end up finding your content that
way you can find out kind of like what keywords are going to I are on Facebook
just pretty much by typing in the keyword into the search bar and Facebook
will give you suggestions so I’m gonna go back in I’m just going to schedule a
few more things to my page I’m gonna post this this is like a hams of prayer
and you can add on here if you want and then just post it so this makes it
really really easy for you to do because you can just post you know whatever you
find here with your you know viral content and go ahead and just post it so
this is how you can quickly create a niche Facebook page you can feel free to
invite all of your friends just to kind of give your page a boost I don’t really
like to do it it just depends on what page it is and if I feel like the
majority of my friends aren’t interested in the page I pretty much like to
organically attract like err to the page another thing that
you can always do is run a Facebook ad to get likers to your page as well and
so for a while you just want to be posting viral content build up your page
build up your likes and followers to the page and then once you get a pretty good
following then you can start to schedule some of your products of the page so
hopefully you’ve learned how to do this efficiently and quickly guys how to
build out your Facebook niche page once again this is Alex Gordon coming at you
with the econ cache cleaning.com feel free to like and share this video don’t
forget guys to subscribe to the channel if you have any questions guys please

Working At Shopify | How I Got Fired | E1

Working At Shopify | How I Got Fired | E1

Hi there my name’s Nick Sutherland, and this is my life channel this week we are going to talk about my previous job experience. So I Applied for a company called Shopify Which for you who are unfamiliar with what it is. It’s an e-commerce platform online was found in Ottawa, Canada and Serves most of the world now one of the biggest e-commerce platforms I personally found Shopify back in 2013 or 2012 when I first started my first business I Was looking around for different? Ecommerce platforms, and I came across Shopify, and haven’t lost it since Just to explain how it works is you apply for your job, so you give your usual resume cover letter They had thrown a little trick in there to see if how detail-oriented. You are so going all that actually got a offer For a life story, which is just an interview with An actual person so they talked about you know who you are as person. What’s your experience? They really do like unique people people who have e-commerce Expertise any entrepreneurship obviously, I’ve been using the platform for a long time So they did appreciate that and then took about another five days or so before I got What they call the gauntlet which is kind of throwing you on a mock job to see how well you’d perform? And I actually do that maybe way across Ontario so I was at an Airbnb and sat down with really terrible internet and did the entire gaunt when I did really well and Again, I’ve been using the platform since at that point as three or four years using the platform so I was pretty good at what at using the platform, so what I got when I did really well and didn’t hear back for Another week or so and then I heard back when I hit Calgary I heard back there saying yeah, you have an interview tomorrow Just was a final interview just get me into if I fit in properly then get me into the job Did that in Calgary again the terrible internet really early in the morning? And then didn’t hear back for another week or so that was probably most frustrating part is after each one They wouldn’t tell you right away. It’s understandable They’re a pretty big company, but I would expect you know a little better communication but again They’re big company no complaints go out to Whistler. That’s where I live And yeah, then you sent me a job offer Which is awesome. They said congratulations. You got the job. He was starting training in three weeks Everyone kinda starts off in the support area they all start off as a guru Which is just like a frontline customer support text of work kind of situation and get to work from home which is awesome So there’s no offices. They have an office in San Francisco, Ottawa Montreal Toronto Waterloo I Think that’s everything all of them, but everyone else from the remote team are across Canada in the Philippines They’re getting some new spots I’m not sure if I’m the liberty to say where they are so I will keep that confidential so yeah You work remotely I worked from my trailer in Whistler as long as you have fast enough in shit, but honestly You don’t need that good in shit. I had probably 15 to 20 down Five up and I did fine It was a little bit stressful during the training because you do video training through zoom or Skype or Google Hangouts So you have a lot of people all in all in one room? But once they actually get into guru position you actually don’t need a lot of Like bandwidth at all it’s a pretty low bandwidth You’re mostly talking on VoIP answering emails and on live chats, which just don’t take a lot So the training it was I believe was four weeks of training or maybe even six weeks of training very extensive. You’re working 40-hour weeks You actually get your your full salary off the bat and some benefits off the bat. They do Have good benefits. They pay alright You start start your pay around forty thousand. That’s where I started you do get promotions pretty quickly so within four months I got a raise and they do definitely recognize people who work really hard, but Yeah, so you spent I think this four 6pk. I can’t quite remember training so your every single day. You’re at your desk on video Learning the internal tools they’ve learned the platform and you’re a group about ten fifteen people and today that’s about four again five million dollars four to six weeks and Then you’re kind of thrown into the job You do get at the end of the training you do get two weeks of just pure mentoring so you’re two people with one tenured guru and you You work alongside them with real real shots Just to kind of perfect what you weren’t then you’re just thrown in there And I did honestly I sit for a guru. I did really well I had the highest or second highest and my squad so there’s To explain the squads there’s about ten people per squad and with the squad lead so your supervisor And then there’s times time zones There’s a time leave for each time zone in Canada or overseas etc so my squad I was first or second the entire Entire time I worked my ass off. I worked really hard for I do I do believe in high quality work I run my own company on the side as well and I would expect unless from my employees so I give the same to another company and They didn’t respect me for that. I got a raise fairly quickly and I was on track for a Promotion I was looking at themed support tier two I was also looking at some Dev team stuff as well as some biz ops but ultimately Yeah, I didn’t get didn’t end up getting there For anyone who’s applying and was watching this who’s curious what your day-to-day is you have different timeslots So I took the ten to six time slot, which is specific Center time where I am so 10 a.m.. To 6 p.m.. And Your day to day Looked you have half an hour thing of the day, which is jump off so some teams will have meetings But we just answered emails and kind of caught up on a queue, or you know just getting ready for the day And then you spend between 3 to 4 hours on other shots or phones have a half an hour lunch And then the same thing you have other phones or chats for the afternoon And then you have half an hour at the end the day to answer emails wind down and then get the head out now Three times a week you have professional development time which is an hour Professional development or training depends on you know what’s going on. So there are a lot of training materials You have to learn so that you did you designate some time to learn training and learning the new products excited that are coming out But yeah, I mean then you have these professional develop times, so you can work on your own websites. You can learn the platform better Develop your intellectual skills anything pretty much that builds you as a person you have that time So I do I do give kudos to Shopify for keeping you know their staff mentally sane. It is a pretty high-stress job You have a lot of people you have to answer to When you’re on chats you have three or four chats so three or four different people you’re answering to and you also have to follow Ups and escalations and answer emails, so there is a lot of work It’s pretty high pressure and they do expect a lot out of you and again like I did between 20 and 100 interactions a day depending on how fast you were and how busy our queues were So I did very much appreciate those hours the hour times Because I needed it. I need that time to catch up my work I need that time to kind of step away and take a deep breath, and then usually on Fridays Lucifer Eyes are a squad we had a team time so it’s a cert time to communicate the team team builds Family build a lot of fun stuff because everyone is working remotely right like I had tea I had people from all over DC of people in Victoria, Kelowna, Vancouver, Whistler So it’s a good time to kind of you know build a family we build your team Build your squad because you know your your That’s your team That’s people you’re asking your questions the people you rely on if you have any issues are going to them first before you send it up to escalated support or themed support etc So that was awesome So you only really had one day a week that you didn’t have an hour off or I stay off But like an hour not on channels Which is fine, so Thursdays, there’s always like the highest rest days, and I hated those days but Friday’s were very relaxed because you know you had to jump off you only worked for a bit in the morning had a lunch work for bit nastier than you had an hour and then then your wrap-up time at the end the day so you had an hour and a half off in the day to actually kind of relax and wind down And talk about the week which is awesome I did very much appreciate that so yeah, that’s the day a day at least said I work at Shopify You’re expected to spend between six months is kind of where You really fall into the role and figure it out and where I can start looking for promotions since it’s such a fast growing company It’s a for an example. I was hired in May or June of 2017 I think was the end of May and by the time I left Shopify which was March 2018 50% of the company was already hired after me so the company doubled in size By the time I was done I shall confine so that’s how fast you’re growing you’re growing by like 400 people a month at one point Which is huge for a small company? So about after about six months you can start looking for promotions start looking for different jobs, so Lift some lists time with the options at the top of my head you have themes support if you’re good at themes You have tier two which is a rescue lated support. You have shipping solutions financial solutions risk development squad lead There’s so many of them you can go over dev team But the one that I was really focusing on was squad Li because I already had a lot of management experience in the past So it’s really focusing on that I took a quick look at team support but there was a lot of it was kind of by the book and not being creative when I love being creative so I kind of put push that off and then tier two was the other big one was looking at because I knew the platform so well since I worked on it I Did really want to kind of get into the servers? And you know do the big problem solving because you know first first level support a lot. It’s like Oh, you know this isn’t working Why isn’t working? And you click a button that they didn’t see and it works So you have a lot of those a lot of walkthroughs of how the platform works We’re at tier 2 you get all the ones that people don’t understand So for example like it when I click the Add to Cart button like nothing happens So you have to go in and see okay? What’s the server error? That’s happening? How do I fix it? Where do I send it how do I fix it myself? It’s really interesting that on top of that tier 2 works 4 days a week 10 not 10 hour days And I live in the beautiful British Columbia as you guys are seen or we’re gonna see I love doing adventures I love hiking so three days off isn’t much better than two days off which brings me to the schedule rotations So you’re on a six or eight weeks schedule rotation, which means you have six weeks Monday to Fridays and then two weeks two or three or four weeks I actually don’t remember of off Working weekends so for example you work Monday to Friday – Friday – Friday Monday to Friday, and then you have I think it’s Tuesday to Saturday, then you have sunday off Sunday Monday off, and then you work Tuesday to Friday and have the new work Saturday Sunday And then something like that it’s kind of you may need people to work the weekend because you have 24/7 support So you work to begin just for two or three weeks or maybe even even four weeks And then you’re back in your rotation same thing with the eight week rotation you hit the eight-week rotation And then you have like two weeks or three weeks or four weeks of working a day or two days in the weekend depending on the school Which brings me to the cultures of shopify now everyone there is Probably between 20 and 30 area or majority of the support staff leaves I don’t we definitely got a chance to meet a lot of the development teams or legal teams But supports would be probably 20 or 30 area, so there is a bit of professionalism, but there’s also a lot of Young startup tech vibes a little bit a maturity Very very laid-back kind of culture Which is great like it’s cool to see a company be so laid back yet so professional and so hyper efficient at what they do However, if you’re just a really professional person, and so he just likes to get shit done Which is actually their motto? It’s you know get shit done act like owner Then it can be a little bit stressful So I again like I said before I was one of the I was out of the first or second performer depending on the month out of my ten people in my squad and by like that I mean I kicked everyone’s butt like I was doing or me and like one of my friends was doing between Double and triple what most people were doing so for example one month. I did 200 shots 50 calls and probably 200 emails where everyone else is doing like you know peaky chats 50 emails 50 calls so that can be a little bit frustrating Applying for promotions it really does help to know people so this is such a young company and everyone. They’re so young There is a bit of a clique enos going on so if you know people get along with people Kind of reach out to people and really focus on that then you kind of have a better probability of The at least four squad lead you have better probability of actually getting the job So the other ones are not so much touching the newer teams They kind of just take replies, but if you want to be a squad leader Shabbat, which is what I wanted to be Especially because I had such a good experience, but I do enjoy managing people My apply for squad lead twice the first time I applied I got to the first round got passed So there’s probably I think there was 30 applicants. They chose 20 for an interview, and then the next one They chose was like 15 people and then the chosen lost person so I made the first round so I got chosen for an interview Got the interview And then it really gave me any feedback They kind of just said you know story to get the job maybe work on being a better leader Which is pretty frustrating for someone who you know I already run a remote team I already run a company with staffing of six people right now I Do it very very well, and I have a really high performing team who respects me? And you know they have no management whatsoever in their location. It’s all done remotely, so that was kind of fresher I didn’t get much feedback, so I bummed me out for a while But I still kick I still kick – I worked too hard, and then I applied for Squad lead again, and I got same thing there was probably round 30 people They chose 20 for interview And I got to the interview and this time we had five people in food before it was just one person But now we had five people in here there was two squad leads HR rep a time lead Time needing training and I got a vibe from the time lead That she just didn’t like me. She just didn’t have she didn’t smile at me. She’d ask me questions Just seemed gently pissed off me, and I was kind of unsure. Why because you know I am a pretty outgoing person I work really hard. I keep out of trouble. I don’t really communicate Like bad things or anything. I’m a very positive vibe kind of person, and I really don’t deal with gossip I just kind of some German Switzerland I just sit in the middle that kind of took me off-guard But I still I did I think I did really really well And they did one of the thyme leaves really did like me It was kind of frustrating because you know I got a email back saying kind of similar thing like soy didn’t get the job But the difference is time it actually gave me a feedback interview Or a feedback meeting, so I had a feedback meeting with the person who actually really liked me, and then she said yeah I really liked you know were just looking for a little bit more Vista sin this I’m Teresa Civic They’re looking for a little bit more of what personality flexing, so I’m a very bubbly person But they’re kind of worried if someone wasn’t so bubbly in the squad, then I wouldn’t connect very well so they want just to me to demonstrate that I that I could flex my personality to deal with that kind of Management style and then they wanted me to get more management experience, which is very very fair within the company so note-taking more my squad leaves on vacation take over as a POC or point of contact or Which is like squad leave while they’re gone So I’ve already done a bunch of that and then I was set up to do a bunch more and I was offered by my Squad lead to do some training Which is awesome because that’s a really good experience be a manager and shaped how that person is and then In that once we got to like the training portion I was in the training training is people and then I think I did a Monday to Friday one day Thursday And then on Sunday night. I got a slack message from my squad lead saying Next week you just gonna be on live channels. We took you off of the training So of course, I’m message back saying you know why would I take it off train did I do anything wrong? And she said yeah, we’ll talk tomorrow which was Monday, so yeah Monday comes around and at like 955 I got a slack message for my squad links lead saying Yeah, we have a meeting at 10 o’clock which is Not enough not really enough notice for me because you know I sleep – 955 get up get out of bed then sit down 10 So I was a wreck so I scrambled to get up Got out of bed got my camera set up in my desk. I usually have another monitor here and Open my laptop jumped a meeting and it was My boss – my boss’s boss. I’m gonna start interrogating me saying This is what those people said you were doing you showed up late for work that you’re teaching the bad habits You’re teaching them how to skew stats which is complete utter bull So to go by point by point so the first point with a gurus knew gurus ones that I was training We’re taught how to cheat the system and look like they’re doing devil interactions by submitting chats open and then Zendesk and intamin submitting them as a psalms so for those who don’t respect that is we have a chat system and he submitted a solves and Immediately goes into Zendesk as a solved ticket for just a minute open it goes into Zenda Zendesk has an open ticket And then he can solve it again Well that doesn’t count a double Interaction all that does is it gives you time later on so you have two options you can do the notes Inside the chat and then submitted solves, or you can just submit it open and do the notes later I always did that because I was doing four chats you only required to do three chats um a time But I was doing four chats at a time So I didn’t have time to go and do notes for each Individual one so that I’ll just omit them as open and then go back and insert them as solve both occur the notes in it Doesn’t count as two interactions that just kind of says one because you know the system is not stupid So I kind of respond saying you know It’s definitely not true. That’s complete bullsh. I don’t see the stats go back and look at every single interaction They’ll match up with a chat not two so that was kind of put it on the bus And then there’s other ones saying that merchants frustrate me, and then you neglect them for waiting longer Which is bullshit as well because what I do is if merchants frustrated And what we’re taught is like if merchants frustrated and let them vent for a bit And then you come back and you answer them So you know I’ll go look the chat if we’re still venting still typing cuz you see they’re typing I’ll let them finish what they’re saying and then I’ll come back and answer once They’re done ranting because you can’t cut off some when the ranting, otherwise they’re just getting more mad So I taught my guru as I was trained you know take the time take your time go to another chat Answer the chat there and come back once there kind of finished up, or just don’t rump and don’t interrupt their Their chat because it kisses people off and that pissed me off as well if I was frustrated another point here Merchants that were perceived as being frustrating. We’re also being spoken to in an inappropriate manner Which is true and that’s that that one was the only valid one so when I get frustrated instead of taking our merchants? I kind of just vocally say all this person’s frustrating me Maybe use a few swear words and then like joke around a bit especially if I love from if I’m live chatting with someone Like one of my colleagues, I’ll kind of joke around that way But again that’s not that’s not customer oriented. That’s how I do of my frustrations I could be doing I could be putting on the customers or getting all closed down That’s how I stayed cool like I would do that and show my dog, and that would keep me calm When I specifically said that to my the new guru is being trained saying this is how I deal with it You’ll find your way to deal with it And then the second last point was neglected your colleagues by showing up late leaving early and not fostering an environment Which they felt that they’re comfortable asking questions? Once again is bullying. I’ll have a CCTV and my trailer, and I’ll I told him unhappily share them showing that I Didn’t leave early. I never left early I again like I employ staff remotely And I put trust in them I I would expect the same out of myself so I always showed up on time never left early I’m frequently left late, and I worked overtime but I never left early and I said like you know what that’s complete bull if you want all of sudden II the CCTV of Me sitting at my desk Not leave my trailer working my ass off and like it shows my stats right it shows how much I work it shows How many more interactions per month I do BUTT STUFF over other gurus, so those are hardworking staff so again I’m on this salary position I want hourly as it is so Like that really did frustrate me The last point was we’re used to trick the system and how to trick your SL to look good on paper, which is also again You’re this entire thing that’s bull I taught them That they should since they have a new SL coming in as well usually you have an SL a squad lead and usually they have a tenured SL Who they joined their squad but since we hired so much they had a new one as well so the head so I said hey You know when you get to your squad make sure you know work your ass off Ask as many questions that you as you can answer as many questions as you can keep your wrap-up times really short And just do gently get do a good job, and your SL. Will love you That’s all I said that department and they just took that completely and a proportion and Pretty much. They said you know we’re gonna throw in evaluate your employment at Shopify, which took me off-guard because again. I’m a heart I’m a very high achiever. I work really hard. I train really well I think I did a great job at training these guys the only thing that I messed up on is I probably shouldn’t have vocally got frustrated. I just kept that inside like I still do them like if I’m not on camera But I should just shut up and not done. That’s all like you know I told him that as well like you know That’s my fault my bad. It won’t happen again. That’s not like in my opinion I don’t think that’s hey we’re gonna get into your employment kind of thread and Then I didn’t hear much back So I sent this big we talked we had a meeting in the entire meeting we talked about this And then I sent a follow-up email just you know printing on the points voicing my concerns trying to prove You know that this is all bullshit. I’ve been here back for a while, so I worked money to Friday I think my cells on vacation in Ottawa and then on next Saturday I got it. Cuz we worked that was the rear rotation so you worked on the Saturday I got a message saying you know we’re gonna have a meeting tomorrow ten o’clock he’d be – that’d be awesome and Yeah, so I same thing kind of you know scramble – my dad is go for my laptop So yeah my SL got into the chat which was a zoom meeting and said hey, this is your HR rep Marcus their name because I want to keep her name confidential and she’s gonna Talk to you about your employment And then she left – I left and I was kind of like why would you? just introduce it and leave cuz I already know my HR rep I’ve talked to her bunch and Then the HR rep said yeah We’re we’re gonna let you go without cause which in my opinion is bull because we happened sometime email thread saying you know We’re gonna consider your employment, and they just let me go that cause which was very frustrating like you know luckily I got severance and all that so I cannot – bummed out and that’s But the fact that you know my ASL Didn’t say goodbye didn’t give me an explanation didn’t respond to my email just showed up said this is who’s gonna fire you they Remind me about my policies, and how I couldn’t break my contract I still had to keep my you know confidential and all that So I’m being very confident about this entire video because I can’t share a lot of stuff that I that I know But this is all public information every guru knows this Really wasn’t expecting to get fired over this it was not Something that should have been fired of course. They have all the rights in the world to just let me go without without cause But it’s kind of a bummer because I was a really high performer in their company I had raises I had great performance reviews. I was one of the top I was like got the highest raise in my entire squad I’m had the best first or second depending on the month of all my stats had a awesome review from merchants I had between a 95 and a hundred percent rating and then they just let me go so obviously a little bummed out But yeah, I did want to show you the entire experience start to finish of what it’s like to work at Shopify I’m the last thing you for I gotta let you guys. Go is. I want to talk about benefits I get that question a lot is what kind of benefits to get Shopify and they do have good benefits So I did have you know I started off with the $40,000 salary And then you get around $50,000 with the benefits, so you have mostly cover dental Prescriptions all that fun stuff so you Have a good you have a good health plan, and then you get a $5,000 spending account, which you can put towards either RRSPs to toward your retirement Or as a spending account so you can spend this on anything that builds you as a person anything it builds your business Anything along the lines of that you can buy like Sporting equipment ski passes bus passes is anything like that which is awesome. I use a lot of that and Then you got shopping Shopify for free which was awesome. I use that a lot, so yeah definitely good benefits They flew you out or bust you out to a summit every year, so they didn’t they again? I don’t want to trash Shopify it I still love Shopify still use Shopify And I still recommend everyone to apply or be employed by Shopify. They are an awesome company, but I wanted to share my experience It’s my right to share my experience. I think should know my experience there, and how I was treated I was treated very well up into that point, but there’s something that I think that shouldn’t have happened so yeah I hope you enjoyed that I’m hoping something that informs you if you’re looking to apply or in the Application process for Shopify keep it in mind. Dropservicing Blueprint – How I Make $100,000+ Per Year (Working A Few Hours Per Week)

Dropservicing Blueprint – How I Make $100,000+ Per Year (Working A Few Hours Per Week)

What’s up, guys? Dylan Sigley here, Do you feel lost with what to do when starting a drop servicing business? Are you wondering what the blueprints to building a drop servicing business is? Well, by the end of this video, you’re going to understand what the drop servicing blueprint is and be able to go out there and start one of these drop servicing businesses from scratch. Have you ever felt like building a real online business that drives consistent results? Freedom and control. Online business can feel uncertain, confusing and overwhelming but what if you had the vision, mindset and actions to get from A to B in building online business step by step so you can live a life of freedom, consistency and control. So before we get into the video, Don’t forget to subscribe and the notification bell so that when I release more marketing strategies, tactics and stories, you’ll get notified. And don’t forget to like the video if you like the video. Let’s jump into it. So the goal is to bring in a freedom income, meaning enough cash to fund the life of freedom, whatever that means for you and for the purpose of this course. Let’s say it’s $10,000 per month to begin, Right? So we should only focus on building the minimum viable business to generate that amount and nothing more. So there’s a few steps to doing this, right? First of all, we need to backward engineer the competition and pick a recurring business idea. Then from there, we need to create an offer and a landing page for that offer. Then all we need to do is market that offer, put out into the market, choose which marketing channels we’re going to go with. But in this video, I want to break down what all of those steps are in detail and show you what’s going to be included in the course as well. But I also want to give you an overview and show you some of the results that we’re able to generate with these marketing channels and how to build these offers. So you can go and do it right away. But as you can see here, you can see that one of our businesses has generated $400,000. And this is one of the PayPal accounts for one of these businesses. I just wanted to use this to show you what’s possible with these drop servicing businesses. And here’s a screenshot of one of these businesses where you can see we’ve brought in $100,000 in the last six months. So these are the types of results that you can achieve with the drop servicing style of business and I want to show you some of the steps that we go through to build one of these businesses and get results. Now, I also thought it was important to give you a screen recording, scrolling down in one of these PayPal accounts to show you the sales flowing and live. So they knew that we didn’t edit any screenshots or anything like that you can actually see here. This is PayPal and we’re inside one of these accounts and you can see all the sales that have come in here. So this is really what is possible with these types of businesses. And now let’s jump in and start showing you how to build one of these businesses from scratch. Now, one thing I do want to mention is it’s really important, first of all, to get your mind right, because if you don’t have your mind right, you’re not going to be able to implement the steps in order to build one of these businesses. And that’s why in the drop servicing blueprint, we focus a lot in week one on the mindsets for success, how to achieve those mindsets and actually understand what the beliefs are that are going to enable you to take the actions in order to get the results that you want. But what you need to understand as well is once you’ve built one of these businesses, you’re not going to need to work on them 24/7. I mean, this business here that I’m showing you right now on screen is fully automated. We don’t actually do any hours on this business anymore because we have all of the people and software to handle every single aspect of the system that’s required to generate these sales. So I literally maybe do a couple of hours a week of work when it comes to paying the team or dealing with any random issues that come up. But other than that, I’m no longer involved in the process at any point. Now, in the course in week one, we get into creating your irresistible offer pretty deeply and then we carry on into week two with backward engineer the system. So here we’re really going about the idea validation process and then researching our competitors to pick up business idea and then start to gather the information we need to create an offer. So of course we give you a master list of all the business ideas in the course to choose from. They have already been verified. But what I want to show you here is the idea of validation sheet where we actually went about verifying one of these businesses. So what are you going to do first is pick a bunch with competitors in your niche once you’ve chosen your business idea, and then we’re going to figure out what is working across the board by looking at what all or the majority of them are doing, because that will give us a good idea for what is working as these companies have spent thousands of dollars in testing everything. So why would we go out there and reinvent the wheel and test everything ourselves, spend thousands of dollars when all we need to do is look at what the majority of computers are doing and do the same thing. The next question they were going to ask when verifying our business idea is “are freelance offering this?” You need to look on upwork, freelancer, peopleperhour and look at exactly what they’re offering. But in the backward engineer the system video. We show you in detail how to do all of this. But essentially you need to go in and ask questions necessary in order to gather all of the results from the freelancer and the competitors, we’re looking at jobs posted for this, Are Google ads running? What is their similar web traffic? And then some estimated freelancer costs that we need to generate as well. You’re also going to contact all of these competitors and the freelancers that you get in contact with as well, because we need to gather information from them and you’re gonna contact them by email and phone and ask all the questions that were provided in the course templates to figure out the estimated costs, their process, everything that gives us the information we need to figure out their potential profit margin. So once you’ve gone through this information gathering process for, first of all, validating your idea, figuring out what your competitors are doing, what is doing and what both are charging, you’re going to get your freelancer cost and your average competitor price and that’s going to give you the margin that you have to work with. Right? You’re simply minus-ing the freelancer cost from the competitive price. And that will give you a good idea for what kind of pricing you can do and how much of a margin you’re going to get. Because let’s say if we were charging our clients $4,000 and we needed to pay our freelancers $500, then we would have three thousand five hundred dollars left over. But as you go about the process, phoning and messaging and emailing the freelancers and the competitors, you’re going to get a good idea for what the system is, what software and people you need, what tasks you need, and the hiring process questions that you need to go through. But we also give you tons of templates for figuring all of this out in the course itself. But let’s get into the next stage, which is creating your offer. Because now that you have all of the competitive data we need, it’s time to create an irresistible offer which we base on that price difference, because as drop services, we arbitrage a global workforce and communications technology made possible by the Internet to provide our clients high quality services at the lowest price possible. This gives us a competitive advantage. Now, using this ability to offer a much lower price, we construct an offer around that. First of all writing copy, which we go in depth and on week two. And what makes our clients buy, our copywriting tool belt and also the copywriting master class. And then also we need to go about creating a website based on our competitive research and the high converting elements that make people buy we cover in week two. So we actually get into this in the automatic conversion website system and we show you how to build your website from scratch in week two as well with the build your website. Now, after that, we’ve created all the offer we get into building your sales system and there’s a ton of other content there as well. World build up every other aspect. But here we’re just gonna focus on the minimum viable business that you need to build in those get sales because that’s all that really matters. So after we had done all of that research on that idea validation sheet was initially just came up with this website and we built it as shown in the week 2 video on building a website. But what this website here, we’ve just basically got our offer there, some client success stories and some calls to action to get in touch, which is essentially just jumping on a call. So then we can close the deal with them. And in the course, we give you a ton of angles and templates to work from. But here’s one example we’ve been testing for the video business. All these angles center around cost because that’s how competitive advantages as a drop servicing business. We’re basically providing our clients with a really high quality service at a low cost because we’re hiring teams from around the world and that enables us to come with them with irresistible offers based around this cost. So as you can see here, the offer we have for this video business is a 50 percent discount on our video production services. And we’re able to offer such a large discount because we have these teams that are able to deliver it from around the world. Plus, we also position ourselves as an authority in the market through copywriting principles that we cover in week 2, But we’re gonna be getting into all of that. But for now, let’s just focus on the minimal viable business which is having that offer based on the research that we make. So once we’ve got an offer like you can see here, we’re going to go out there and market that offer. We need to test it in the market and in the course. We give you advance tutorials on how to do all of this with the 10 primary methods. They have all of the free marketing methods, that can also be turned into paid marketing methods as well as you want to scale up your business once you get your first few sales. And then of course, we have all of the paid marketing methods too, which are in-depth tutorials showing you exactly what to do step by step with Facebook Ads, Google ads and LinkedIn ads. But here I want to give you an example of free methods using LinkedIn and email. Long term will scale and automate these methods to grow our business fast. But I want to show you a couple of case studies really quickly of how we’ve gotten sales through LinkedIn for free and email for free. So let’s do LinkedIn first. What we can do is go onto a site like CrunchBase and we can research, for example, different companies that are coming up. So let’s do a really simple search and just say 1 million star search and we can click on this company here. Right now we’ll give you a ton of information on this company so you can get a good idea for whether that would be a good target. So you can see here they give you a contact e-mail, which means you’re totally fine to reach out to them because it’s public. And then what you can do as well as you can also research him to figure out what he does at the company by searching him on LinkedIn. So once you find the company, you can actually click on, “see all employees” and you can go through and see what should be the best options. Butwhat we could do is just take this guy’s email here and then send him a message on LinkedIn if we wanted to. But I’ll use him as an example of using the email method. So all the you kind to do is send him this email template and that’s literally the email method. You’re finding the email address using a database such as CrunchBase. You can also find them on LinkedIn or you can automate process with software as well. So the process I’m showing you here is more of the free method of going through these directories and the websites in finding email addresses manually. But there’s also methods you can do using software and people to automate the process for you and generate high quality leads without you having to do anything which we cover in the course. So let’s send this email and that’s essentially the process that we use there. We sent a similar email to this company here offering a 50 percent discount on the video. Then from there they jumped on a call with us. And you can see here they reply saying “okay, thanks. Our marketing director just approved for the eight videos at the deal you offered with one free video. We’ll go with the explainer videos as well.” Then from there, she replied to us, setting up a call, and we simply closed the deal on that call. And this client ended up being worth $10,000 to us. I might go a little bit more in-depth into this case study in the future, but that was using a simple method with email, completely free method even, which is pretty crazy considering it led to a $10,000 client. That’s the type of thing that we’ve been able to generate using the methods that we reveal to you in the drop servicing blueprint. Now let’s do an example of a LinkedIn message. So another free method is actually to go onto LinkedIn and search for CEOs, for example. And obviously, we can make the searches more complicated, we can track all the searches using, for example, sheet a Google sheet or one of these fancy softwares, if that’s what you like. But all we need to do is, first of all, connect with people. We can add a note and it could even be something like this. We could literally just, something simple like this. You can automate this process using software as well to make everything a lot faster. Do a lot more volume and get a lot more sales from it. But I just want to show you here the lowest cost method, which is the free method of just doing everything manually yourself in the drop servicing blueprint, we actually get into all of the ways you could go about this process to automate things and scale it up over time. But let’s keep things simple for now and the lowest cost method possible to get your first sales. And then from there you can start scaling up with all of the paid methods. So once you sent an invite, eventually they’ll connect with you or they won’t. But if they do, they are going to see any posts they do on LinkedIn. And you can also send them another message on LinkedIn. So here’s a recent example which happened yesterday, actually. So we can exit with this guy Albert here on LinkedIn, send a message here, apply. And we seem to link to the landing page to make a purchase. And then from there, he bought our six hundred dollar package or 599 whatever. But you can see that not every single sale you get is going to be $10,000. You can also get these smaller sales as well as six hundred dollars and so on. But you don’t really need that many of these sales to be bringing in a good enough income every month to get that freedom that you’re after. And these are the types of things we’ve been able to do using the strategies that we reveal to you on the drop servicing blueprint. And on the screen now, you can see a bunch of sales piling up from some of the other methods that we’re used too in these drop servicing businesses. But you can see this is a consistent and repeatable way of generating sales for your drop servicing business. And these mini channels you can use to drive these types of results. Then once you get your first few sales, you can start to automate your business to work on autopilot. That way, you can build a business that funds your freedoms to do what you want, when you want, with who you want. And we go in depth and provide you all the templates you need in order to automate your business using people and software in the fastest way possible to take yourself out of the system and get that freedom that obviously, we’re all after in building these businesses right? Then week six, It’s scaled to the moon week. And here we focus on all of the methods that we use to scale revenue, repeated referral buyers up sales, cross sales, down sales, all of the finance and accounting, everything that you need to scale your business in the fastest way possible. We cover and that week, then finally in week seven, we have the inside of my six figure drop servicing business. So we actually show you everything from one of these drop servicing businesses so that you can copy and paste it into your own and see what kind of resources are able to generate. But those are the three steps, the only three steps you need to focus on and building a drop servicing business, because at the end of the day, picking a business idea, creating an offer and marketing that offer is all that really matters when it comes to getting sales. And that’s all I want you to focus on until you get those first few sales, from there you’re gonna be able to focus on automating a business and getting that freedom and scaling up your business as big as you want.
